Southern Ontario Tourism Organization (SOTO)

Organizational Nature

The Southern Ontario Tourism Organization was originally funded in part by the province of Ontario. Shifts in policy effectively ended the funding of the organization and this lead to its collapse.

Meridian purchased the web assets of SOTO and began the overhaul of the portal in early 2006.

Meridian Products & Services in Deployment

The original SOTO web site was due for a major overhaul at the time of the organizations demise. Meridian choose to rebuild the portal in 2006-7. The first major goal of the new portal was to improve upon the poor search engine positioning of the portal.

Over 800 pages of content were developed to position the portal as the major gateway for information on tourism sites in Southern Ontario.

Project Scale

Currently there are approximately 15hotel properties participating in the direct inventory program and 5 golf courses

Project Timeline

The system will become operational in August 2006.
